Inspired by the vibrant colored homes of Latin America, this shows a corner adorned in foliage reminiscent of familiar neighborhoods. The underlayer of abstracted shapes depicts the emotions of visiting and always having to leave comfortable places. This is yearning for the feeling of home. A dreamlike quality of paint-handling due to the romanticized version that exists within my head of what could’ve been if I was raised there. The edges seeping through the reality of it, leaving the underpainting showing in certain areas to emphasize the undoing of the landscape through gentrification. It will never be what it once was, time continues whether we will it or not.
